When we're busy building our own direct sales business it's possible to forget that you need to work on building your downline too. A healthy relationship with your sales team will help all of you succeed together.  Here are 7 tips that can help you build a strong downline while also growing your business every day.

Get Personal With Your Team:  Your downline wants to know you. They want to see you working to build your business, and see you reach your goals. Communicate with them regularly, send out a newsletter, offer sales tips, monthly numbers, prizes for reaching goals, are all great ways to stay in contact while motivating your team. Another good tip is to create a fb group, forum, or other chat for your team. This will allow everyone to share ideas and support with each other.

Be Available: Make sure your team knows how to reach you and let them know it's ok to email, message or call. It's very common for people to think they are bothering you, but if you make it clear that they won't be bothering and that you welcome the communication. It helps to put everyone at ease.

Reward Your Tearm: Give prizes to your team members to reward them for all their hard work. Maybe a gift for the person that has the highest sales, or gets the most new recruits. You can also hold contests, such as one entry for each party held, or for reaching different goals.

Educate Your Team: As you learn and grow your business share that knowledge with your team. This is an essential part of the success of your team. The better trained they are, the more they will be able to recruit new members and continue to grow your downline. When they get new people make sure that you are reaching out to them as well. Invite them to your training meetings, new product announces, team groups, chats, etc.

Promote Your Business: Many people tend to focus on sales and recruiting. By solely focusing on simply promoting your business you can branch out into new ways that you might not have considered before. This might be handing out fliers, going door to door, mailing postcards, handing out samples or participating in local vendor events. All of these are great ways to get your business in front of potential customers and recruits.

Write Articles: Article marketing is a fantastic way to get free traffic to your website. By  writing five articles a month that link to your website and submitting them to various article directories you will notice a rise in the traffic to your site. The more articles you write, the more traffic you'll get. This will also help your site rise in the Google search results as well making it even easier to reach potential customers and recruits.

Don't Stop!: Sometimes it seems that no matter what you do everyone says no. Look at what type of promoting your doing and make small changes. Reach out to others in your business area and ask them for ideas and tips that they've used to be successful. It takes time to build a business, but you can do it if you keep trying hard and reaching for the stars!

You can repurpose an old wooden ladder into a beautiful shelf be means of painting or polishing it in accordance  with the decor of your room!

3. Just talking about ladders, we cannot help mentioning another super way of organizing a girl’s room. You know girls love having their clothings in their sight, why not granting them such a pleasure?
All we need is hanging the ladder, thus turning it into a beautiful clothes rack! You know, some extra colorings will always work great!

4.  Use a luggage!
Well, it may sound awkward first, but actually, luggage may be turned into an ideal storage!
You can hang it on the wall and create the image of a unique shelf, inside of which you may store some books, or medicines, and maybe even dishes!

5. Use hooks to hang your mugs and coffee cups. You can simply hang them on a tube like in the first pic or get as creative as in the second one!

6. Install a Wall-mounted storage
In case you have an available blank wall, you can install mounting rows of racks on the wall from floor to ceiling and hang  everything from smallest to big and heavy supplies to it.

9. Repurpose old doors
You need a place to hang your kitchen supplies or arrange small souvenirs? Use an old door! Just use some paint and hooks and an here you have an ideal board!

10. Shoes Rack
For this purpose you can use cardboard tubes of a variety of diameters(more practical sizes are from 16.5 cm to 1 m). You should arrange these tubes on each other and as a result these tubes will serve as cells each as a room to a pair of shoes.

11. Use the space under staircase!
If you have a two-story house the space under the staircase may serve as an ideal solution for storing things.  Even the difference in the heights of the steps can be used very advantageously by arranging several compartments: such as, by means of placing seasonal clothes and inventory higher, and shoes and children's toys in the lower shelves.

12. A line of baskets.
You can make a line of baskets on an open shelf or in an wardrobe. This is a good way of arranging everything neat and clean! In case your baskets have covers, you can attach labels on each one, not to be obliged to peep into them every time!

13. Add cells and boxes to the room!
This can help you to keep similar objects together and neatly organize!
Such cells and boxes either can be rolled-up under beds or be simply piled in the closets.

14. The space under the bed is a great place for storing anything. Again, you can use some cells to achieve a more organized solution.

15. Electric cables will be easy to find if you store them folded in inner tube of a toilet or kitchen paper roll.

16. A box for magazines may be repurposed in the kitchen! Just attach it on the wall of the cabinet and make it  bit bigger!

Many people are looking for ways to earn the money they need, while also improving the quality of their lives. Whether they want to spend more time with their family, have greater flexibility with their time, or just want to make a little extra cash. Having a home based business is the quick and modern way for people to generate additional income, or even leave the "traditional" business world behind!

Most of people are turning to the internet to find the perfect home based opportunity for themselves. There are several factors that you need to consider before jumping into any home business idea.

*What type of business will have?
You might think this is an easy question to answer, but you'd be wrong. It's shockingly difficult to decide on what you really want to do. Lots of people keep trying different things, often times more than on thing at once, and never really succeed at any of them. It's better to take the time at the beginning to really thing of what you want to do. Building a business takes time and work.

*Cost
Unfortunately, costs have to always be one of your top considerations. The amount of money your willing to invest is completely up to you. However, it's important to remember that whatever you spend is an invest in your business. You do want to make sure you don't invest more than you can afford to, and that you have a plan to recover within a certain amount of time.

*Research
Once you've decided on the business opportunity that you want to pursue it's time to research it! What to sell all of those blankets, ornaments, and other crafty stuff you make? Research it! What to become a content writer, do data entry, or transcription? Research it! Look at what you will need to for training, sites that you will host your business on, how you'll market yourself or your products, etc. There is a lot to learn! Doing your research at the beginning can really be a big boost to your future success.

*Pick the name of your business
Picking the right name for your business is essential! You want something that is catchy and grab people's attention, but if you're like me, you also want something easy that you like! It took me a few different tries before I settled on "Julie's Home Parties" for this blog. Don't be afraid to try out different ones as you develop your brand and business.

*Set up your office space
Having a space where you can work without getting interrupted is by far the best you can ever do for yourself when starting your home business. Ideally, this is a separate room with a door you can close and hang a "do not disturb" sign on with your hours. If not, find a little space to set up that you can call your own during "business hours". It could be your kitchen table while the kids are at school or your couch after everyone has gone to bed. Whatever you choose make it yours. Set it up to best suit your needs and hours.

*Get organized
Organization is the heart and soul of a successful business! You want to find a nice planner and start filling it in. Make lists, schedule tasks and goals. Set up reminders on your phone or laptop. Print out invoices and file them the old fashion way if that's what you want to do. If you do this faithfully everyday then you'll create the habit of checking your calendar and keeping yourself on track to meet your goals.

If you keep these factors in mind when starting your business you can be successful! Staring your own home business can be extremely challenging, but also very rewarding. Don't be afraid to make mistakes, just make sure you learn from them!

Want to give direct sales a try? Check out one of the best candle companies around! Join my Country Scents Candles team today!

Recently I decided to join #CountryScent Candles as an independent consultant. They offer candles, wax tarts, and more all for pretty reasonable prices. With any company I join I always try to get a few of their products to try before I really start trying to sell it. So I ordered a set of the Country Apple and the Rose Bouquet tarts to check out.

I've got the Country Apple one going in the warmer right now and it smells absolutely AMAZING! It took just a few minutes for the scent to fill the living room without the ceiling fan on. I just turned the fan on and the scent immediately hit me. It's delicious! Makes me want to bake a pie :)

So far I haven't tried the Rose Bouquet in the warmer yet, but it does smell very nice in the little package. Not overly perfumey either. I really don't care for any scent that smells like the perfume department at a boutique, so I'm hoping that once they melt they won't have a strong perfume scent. Just the nice, summer smell of roses.

I ordered on my tarts late last Thursday night and arrived in my mail Monday afternoon. The shipping through Country Scents is a bit higher than some other companies, but I know they are working on new shipping contracts to lower that.

Country Scents is based out Kentucky and they hand-pour all of their candles and wax tarts. They are made with 100% American grown soy products, have lead free cotton wicks, and they don't use any chemical dyes. The candles come in 16 oz or 8 oz mason jars with lids. After the candle is gone you can easily reuse the mason jars!

Soy candles have a higher melting temperature allowing them to last 30-50% longer than paraffin or petroleum candles. Soy doesn't emit toxins either so its less likely to trigger any allergies that you may have. It is also naturally biodegradable and water soluble which makes cleaning up any spills easy.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with the wax tarts I received. I plan on purchasing a kit soon and I truly need one of the scented bears in my life! They are just too cute :)

Prices are as follows:
16 oz. candle: $17.00
8 oz. candle: $10.00
Wax Tarts: $5.00
Aroma Beads: $11.00
Scented Bears: $15.00
Warmers: $8.94 - $24.00

If you'd like to try this fantastic line of candles then just head over to Julie's Country Scents!

Taking a bath is one of the most relaxing and rewarding parts of my day :) I love being able to just soak and let all the tension and stress just melt away. Adding a nice bath bomb can make it even more enjoyable. These little fuzzy bombs can help to soften and rejuvenate your skin while helping to relax even more! Quality bath bombs usually cost at least $5 each. For people that use a lot of them the costs can quickly add up. Luckily they are very easy to make for a fraction of the cost.

Ingredients:
8 oz baking soda
4 oz citric acid
4 oz corn starch
4 oz salt
3/4 tablespoon water
2 teaspoon fragrance or essential oil
2.5 tablespoon vegetable oil
1-2 drops food coloring

Directions:
Blend the baking soda, citric acid, corn starch and salt together in a glass bowl. Be careful to blend these together well for a fair and smooth bath bomb.

In a separate jar or small bowl mix the water, fragrance or essential oil, veg. oil and food coloring.

Slowly add the liquid mixture to the dry mixture, and quickly whisk the liquid into the dry mix. If foams start to form you are adding the liquid too fast. Slow down how fast you are adding the liquid to avoid any foams forming. After all of the liquid has been whisked with the dry ingredients the mixture will be a slightly damp consistency.

You can mold the damp mixture into any shape that you want. Any type of hollow container will work. This could be empty Christmas ornaments, muffin tins, candy molds, or specifically made bath bombs molds.

Next you need to unmold the bombs and let them dry. Be careful when unmolding them so that they don't break. Allow the bath bombs to dry completely and store in an airtight container. Keep away from high humidity since that may activate them.

Play around with different essential oils to find the perfect blend for you!

Frozen Fiddleheads To Enjoy All Year Long!

Fiddleheads have a ridiculously short season! As a result many people like to preserve them so they can enjoy them all year long instead of just a few short weeks in spring. By far the best way to preserve them is by freezing. It's can be a time consuming process if you have a lot of them to freeze, but it's really not that hard. I usually freeze around 25-30 lbs each spring.  If you'd like to try pickling them then head over to this post for some great pickled fiddlehead recipes.

  1. Clean them your fiddleheads thoroughly! Remove the ends and any scales. Fiddleheads are pretty dirty so rinse them a few times until you've them good and clean.
  2. Blanch a small amount of fiddleheads at a time for two minutes in 4-6 cups of water. As a reminder the blanch time starts when the water comes to a rolling boil after adding the produce.
  3. Cool in a ice bath immediately after blanching (half ice water mixture)
  4. Dry thoroughly and place into moisture and vapor proof containers such as resealable plastic bags. Do not over fill bags.
  5. Place container in freezer.
  6. To use frozen fiddleheads thaw in refrigerator or cold water and follow cooking direction outlined above before serving. Fiddleheads can be thawed in a microwave if for immediate consumption.

Fiddleheads are a versatile plant that are absolutely delicious when pickled! This is a great way to add some variety to your dishes as well.

Plain and Pickled Fiddleheads

cider vinegar
sugar
1/8 teaspoon each of pepper, ground nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice and celery seed

Pour enough vinegar over the fiddleheads to cover; then strain it off into a pan. Add 1 cup sugar for every gallon of vinegar. Add a large pinch of each of the spices and celery seed. Boil this syrup for 7-8 minutes; then pour over the fiddleheads in pint-sized jars.
Seal and process for 15 minutes in a boiling water process canner.

Sweet Pickled Fiddleheads

1 quart cider vinegar
5 cups sugar
2 teaspoons salt

Mix vinegar, sugar and salt in saucepan; bring to a boil, pour over fiddleheads in pint-sized jars; seal; process 15 minutes in boiling water process canner. Makes 6 pints.

Sugar-Free Fiddlehead Pickles

1 gallon vinegar
1 teaspoon powdered saccharin (if desired)
1 teaspoon powdered alum
1/2 cup salt
1/2 teaspoon powdered cloves
1 teaspoon powdered allspice
1 tablespoon powdered cinnamon
1/2 cup dry mustard

Pack fiddleheads into jars; pour enough liquid to cover fiddleheads; seal at once. Process for 15 minutes in boiling water bath. Let stand at least two weeks before using. If the product is to be sold, it may be necessary to check with the Food and Drug Administration on the use of saccharin in this type of product.

Mustard Fiddlehead Pickles

1 quart button onions (peeled)
1 quart fiddleheads
2 cups salt
4 quarts water
1 cup flour
6 tablespoons dry mustard
2 cups sugar
2 quarts vinegar

Wash and prepare button onions and fiddleheads. Mix salt and water. Pour over fiddleheads. Let stand overnight. Bring to boil, and drain in colander. Mix flour and dry mustard. Stir in enough vinegar to make smooth paste. Add sugar and vinegar. Boil until thick and smooth, stir constantly. Add the fiddleheads and cook until they are just heated through. (Overcooking makes them soft instead of crisp.)
Pour into jars and seal immediately. Process 15 minutes in boiling water process canner.  Makes 8 pints.

Quick Sour Fiddlehead Pickles

1/2 gallon cider vinegar
2 cups water
1/2 cup salt
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup mustard seed

Mix ingredients, bring to boil. Pour over fiddleheads in pint-sized jars; seal; process 15 minutes in boiling water process canner.

Bread and Butter Fiddlehead Pickles

4 pounds fiddleheads
3 large onions, thinly sliced
1/2 cup salt
cold water
3 trays ice cubes
5 cups sugar
5 cups cider vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons turmeric
1 1/2 teaspoons celery seeds
1 1/2 teaspoons mustard seeds

In 8-quart enamel, stainless steel or glass container, stir fiddleheads, onions, salt and enough cold water to cover fiddleheads until salt dissolves; stir in ice. Cover; let stand in cool place 3 hours. Drain fiddleheads and rinse with cold running water; drain thoroughly.
Measure sugar, vinegar, turmeric, celery seeds and mustard seeds into 8-quart Dutch oven or heavy saucepan. Over high heat, heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low; simmer, uncovered 30 minutes, stirring often.
Meanwhile, prepare jars and caps. Add fiddleheads and onions to Dutch oven; heat to boiling. Spoon hot fiddleheads into hot jars to 1/4 inch from the top. Immediately ladle syrup over fiddleheads.
Process 15 minutes in boiling water process canner. Cool jars and test for air tightness. Makes about 6 pints.

A very good friend of mine is participating in the #AroostookRelayforLife this year in Caribou, ME. She is doing this in support of her sister that is currently being treated for breast cancer. Dani is working her butt off trying to raise money for this great cause, as well as raising money just to help pay for her sister's treatments. She's really awesome!

In a small effort to help her out I'm donating my commission from all sales in her #RelayforLife Linen World Party! Plus, since it's a party she gets all the great hostess rewards too :) I believe at least a few of them will be sold at auction in yet another fundraiser.
