Make up a big bunch to store for when you're family isn't feeling their best.

Home Made Vick's Shower Discs

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/3 to 1/2 cup water, as needed
  • 15 drop eucalyptus essential oil
  • 2-3 tsp Vick's vapor rub
Line a muffin tin with cupcake paper liners.
Next mix the baking soda and cornstarch together. Slowly add the water and oil to form a paste, being careful to keep the mix from foaming. Thoroughly mix the Vick's vapor rub into the paste.  Pour the mixture into the lined cupcake tins. Let these set for at least 12 hours, or they can be baked in a 350 degree oven for 20 to make them dry out faster. Once they are completed dry, remove them from the liners and store in an air tight container.

Anytime you have a cold place one of the disks on the floor of your shower. As the water runs over the disc it will release the Vick's vapor rub and eucalyptus helping to relieve your congestion.

Vick's Vapor Rub was created by Lunsford Richardson in Greensboror, North Carolina during the 1890's. When the Spanish flu hit the US in 1918 to 1919 their sales skyrocketed from $900,000 to $2.9 million in one year!
